The Lahti-based Lepo Product Oy has been furnishing public spaces for 70 years, with high-quality work and flexibility as its cornerstones. The quality of our work is guaranteed through our extensive subcontracting network and our smooth cooperation with designers, with whom urgent projects are successfully completed. Our reliable sales and established retail network ensure that the needs of every customer are met. Our professionals provide help with design based on the customer’s needs and wishes. We also reupholster our products.
The main branches of business for Lepo are seating furniture for public interiors and ship furnishing, largely based on custom-built products. The company initially gained worldwide recognition through the iconic furniture designs of Professor Yrjö Kukkapuro. Since 1991, our lead designer Kaarle Holmberg has been in charge of Lepo’s main furniture collection. Other designers include Esko Pajamies, Antti Kotilainen and a younger generation of designers.
LEPO FURNITURE SINCE 1953
Lepo emerged as a response to the need to refurbish homes in the post-war reconstruction period, as people got wealthier. Founded in 1953, the company was first called Lahden Lepokalusto Ltd, and its production began with spring mattresses, sofa beds, and easy chairs. During the company’s eventful history the name has changed several times, but whether it is Lahden Lepokalusto, Lepokalusto, Lepofinn or Lepo Product, the company has always been called Lepo.
From 1958, Lepo has collaborated with well-known interior architects. Since the early 1960s, Lepo has increasingly focused on designing furniture for public interiors. Take, for example, Yrjö Kukkapuro’s first chair collection ‘Moderno’, which is still in production. This collection played a significant role in exports and ship furnishings during Lepo’s boom years. Ship furnishing still forms a considerable part of Lepo’s sales.
